The NWT government says the Mackenzie Valley Winter Road between Norman Wells and Fort Good Hope has reopened after an overflow-related closure.

Overflow on a section of the winter road roughly midway between the communities led to Wednesday’s closure announcement.

Just after 2pm on Thursday, an NWT Department of Infrastructure representative said the road had opened again.

“Please reduce speed and drive with care throughout this section,” drivers were told, “as there are two graders, a water truck and a loader working to improve surface conditions.”
