Inuvik Gas says its supplies are now sufficient after weeks in which residents were told to conserve fuel where they could.
During a bitterly cold spell in early January, the company said the town was down to five days of propane after road closures and other issues affected its supply.
Inuvik Gas asked residents to switch to diesel, wood or electric to heat their homes where possible, close window blinds or drapes to retain heat, and reduce use of gas-intensive appliances like ovens, clothes dryers and even “long, hot showers.”
In a statement issued via the Town of Inuvik’s Facebook page on Friday, the company said it was “pleased to lift the fuel conservation efforts.”
“We are confident in our supply levels and are working on mitigation plans to better reinforce our operations,” the statement added.
