Comedian and musician Mae Martin will join Polaris-winning rapper Cadence Weapon at the 2026 edition of Yellowknife’s Folk on the Rocks music festival.

The two were announced on Friday as the festival, which runs from July 17-19, finalized its lineup.

Great Lake Swimmers, The Darcys, Aysanabee and Gnarwhal had been previously announced.

Friday’s third and final wave of artists revealed for 2026 also included Halifax “folk wunderkind” Braden Lam, Edmonton singer-songwriter Eric Kane, Korea jazz fusion group Gonia, Ontario Americana songwriter Rebekah Hawker, Quebec Innu-aimun pop-rock and reggae artist Shauit, Juno-nominated Toronto duo Sonshine & Broccoli and Edmonton indie-folk project St Arnaud.

Northern acts announced on Friday included Allister McCreadie, Jonny Vu with The Co-op, Primetime, Punch Dummies, Seb & Ash, smallTALK, the Tree of Peace Jiggers and GQ Entertainment.

Cows Go Moo, the Whitehorse teenage group whose cow costumes at Folk 2024 were legen-dairy, will make a return.

Organizers said Martin, known for the Netflix show Feel Good, “brings a rare crossover performance that blends music, vulnerability and wit.”

Folk described Cadence Weapon as “one of Canada’s most celebrated and forward-thinking hip-hop artists,” adding the broader third wave of artists highlighted “the incredible strength of northern and emerging talent.”

Cabin Radio will once again anchor the Cabin Radio Lakefront Stage at Folk 2026 and broadcast live from the festival’s three main stages throughout the weekend.
