RCMP say a former general manager of Fort Providence’s Big River Service Centre faces charges of fraud related to incidents in 2025.

In a Thursday news release, police identified the suspect as a 59-year-old woman who has since relocated to Nova Scotia.

Linda Croft, who was previously Big River’s general manager, told Cabin Radio she had no comment “other than the fact that they’ve charged me with a few things and I have nothing to say because I have yet to speak to a lawyer.”

Police said they were told in April 2025 that the business had been defrauded of more than $24,000, at which point an investigation began.

A month later, a break-and-enter occurred at the same location, police said, adding that officers identified the former general manager as the primary suspect by reviewing security video footage.

“Based on the evidence collected, the former general manager was also identified as the main suspect in the fraud case that took place at the same location in April 2025,” RCMP stated.

Police said the charges laid are fraud over $5,000 and break and enter. Those charges have yet to be proven in court.

“It is believed that the suspect relocated to Nova Scotia. An endorsed warrant has been issued for her arrest,” police stated.
