The City of Yellowknife is asking residents to share their thoughts on two planned recreational development projects.
In a Monday press release, the city announced it has opened surveys on projects to replace the playground on Latham Island and develop an outdoor recreational space in the “pie-shaped area” between Hagel Drive and LeMay Drive.
“Yellowknifers have consistently told us that public spaces play a vital role in community life,” stated Grant White, Yellowknife’s director of community services.
“These projects provide an opportunity to design spaces that are inclusive, safe, and welcoming for all ages and abilities. Community input is essential to ensuring these spaces reflect the needs, priorities, and values of the people who use them.”
The city said both projects are in the early stages and residents’ input can help shape the design process.
The surveys are open until March 13.
The city said construction is set to take place this spring or summer depending on the weather.
