Tthebatthie Denesųłiné Nation chief resigns

The chief of Tthebatthie Denesųłiné Nation has resigned.

The First Nation announced the chief’s resignation in a Thursday press release. It said Lorraine MacDonald’s resignation was effective as of Tuesday.

“The council acknowledges and sincerely thanks Chief MacDonald for her leadership, dedication and service to the Tthebatthie Denesųłiné Nation during her time in office,” the release stated.

“As a respected Elder and former chief, the council expresses its appreciation for her contributions and extends its best wishes to her.”

The First Nation said it would not provide further information regarding the matter.

MacDonald was elected as chief of Tthebatthie Denesųłiné Nation in June 2025 and has previously served in the role.

The First Nation said a by-election will be held to fill the vacant chief position and further information would be shared once it becomes available.
