The Yellowknife Dance Collective is bringing a contemporary dance show titled Shorts to the stage at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre.
Shorts features 13 original works created by local choreographers with “a vibrant mix of movement styles, ideas and perspectives that take the audience from the streets of Rio to a dog park on Tin Can Hill,” according to a press release.
“It’s a courageous thing to share a personal story on stage with your whole body and being. I am so inspired by each choreographer who has dug deep into their artistic process, and the dancers who embody their work,” stated Fia Grogono, one of the directors and producers of the show.
“Our cast and show reflect the diversity of our dance ecosystem in Yellowknife – you’ll see a range of ages, dance backgrounds, and histories being shared on stage. I can’t wait for the Yellowknife community to receive these stories.”
Shorts will be performed at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre on Friday, March 20 at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 21 at 2pm and 7:30pm.
Tickets are available on the centre’s website.
