The 2026 edition of The Underdog 100 begins on Friday, featuring more than a dozen six-dog teams taking on a 100-mile track.

Last year, Musher Magazine named the NWT-based event one of the top 20 sled dog races in the world to follow as a fan.

This year’s race begins at 9am from North Arm Territorial Park, west of Yellowknife and Behchokǫ̀. Teams will spend most of their time on Great Slave Lake.

We filmed with the mushers – and organizers Trevor Bower and Marcel Marin – during the 2025 edition of the race, won by Alaska’s Sean de Wolski.

Spend 10 minutes taking in some of the sights and sounds and getting to know more about a race designed to level the playing field for owners of smaller kennels.
