Registration has opened for the 2026 edition of YK2HR, the annual Yellowknife to Hay River bike ride. This year’s event runs from June 5-7.

This is the ride’s 15th anniversary, organizers said in a press release.

The event covers 500 km over three days, starting in Yellowknife’s Fred Henne Territorial Park before crossing the Deh Cho Bridge on day two and arriving at Lady Evelyn Falls.

Days one and two are 182 km each. The third day from Lady Evelyn Falls to Hay River is 130 km. Rest stops and a safety support vehicle are provided, as are all meals and snacks except lunch on day one.

Registering for the ride costs $325 until May 1 and $375 after that. Registration closes on May 25. Participants are expected to be able to maintain an average speed of between 20 km/h and 25 km/h.
