The NWT government has begun its process of acquiring feedback from residents and governments ahead of the 2027-28 budget being released early next year.

There’s an online survey and in-person town hall meetings will be scheduled.

From 7pm on Tuesday, May 19 you can join an online session with finance minister Caroline Wawzonek via Microsoft Teams.

“The Northwest Territories is navigating a period of economic transition as major resource projects wind down, global uncertainty grows, and costs continue to rise,” the territory stated in a news release.

“At the same time, new opportunities are emerging through partnerships, infrastructure investment, and a renewed focus on building resilient communities and a more diversified economy for the future.”

The GNWT says its “budget dialogues” are a way to share views about how it can “ensure every dollar is spent in the best way to support the Priorities of the 20th Legislative Assembly and our territory’s needs.”
