RCMP from multiple NWT communities participated in an operation Thursday, resulting in the arrest of a 29-year-old from Fort Providence on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Keigan Lee Nadli was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a probation order, said RCMP.
Police said they also seized a “quantity of suspected cocaine,” drug paraphernalia, cellphones and several firearms.
“This seizure represents another successful effort to combat illicit drug trafficking, and the Fort Providence RCMP would like to thank community members and the local leadership for their continued support,” said RCMP.
Police said the Territorial Crime Reduction Unit, Emergency Response Unit and officers from Hay River and Behchokǫ̀ RCMP were involved in the operation.
Nadli remains in custody and will appear in court on May 19.
