RCMP named a man they’re trying to find in connection with the ransacking of a Yellowknife home during Thanksgiving.
Guns, ammunition, jewellery, and a range of other items were stolen from a home on Rivett Crescent some time between Sunday evening and Monday afternoon.
The owner of the home told Moose FM they had been away at the time of the burglary – and added entire gun cabinets containing up to a dozen weapons had been taken. In all, the items missing were valued at some $50,000.
On Friday afternoon, police announced an arrest warrant related to the theft has been issued for 31-year-old Yellowknife resident Beau Desire-Tesar.
Police said Desire-Tesar is believed to be still in the Northwest Territories and may still be in Yellowknife.
While no image was issued, he is described as white, 185 cm (6 ft 1 in) tall, of lanky build, and with dark brown hair.
RCMP warned he may be in possession of guns and told the public to contact police rather than approach him.
“The investigation remains on-going and the stolen property has not yet been accounted for,” Friday’s police statement added.
