The owner of a new nail salon in Hay River says the service is proving so popular, customers are making the hours-long round trip from other South Slave communities.

Hannah’s Nail opened in Hay River on February 4. Owner Hannah Duong told Cabin Radio her customers include residents of Fort Providence and Fort Smith who have driven specifically to receive manicures and pedicures.

Duong, who moved from Vietnam to Hay River with her family in August, said “everything has been going beyond excellent” – despite some early difficulties during construction.

Once those had been resolved, and before the salon had even officially opened, Duong warned potential customers she was already completely booked for the first two weeks.

“Over 40 of you guys have booked with us,” she posted on January 30.

“We even have guests coming from out of town, which is unpredictable yet very exciting for us.”

In an email to Cabin Radio, Duong said she, her husband, and their two teenage sons were thankful to the community for the support they have received.

“We chose Hay River because we think it is a very nice town with a lot of hospitable people,” Duong said, thanking locals for helping her family work through their construction issues.

“[They] are always willing to provide us with help whenever, under any circumstances.”

Hannah’s Nail is located in Godwin Mall and offers manicures, pedicures, and leg massages.
