The City of Yellowknife has announced a public engagement session that will allow residents to provide feedback on the municipality’s wildfire response.
The city hired KPMG to complete a review of its response to the 2023 wildfire season, known as an after-action assessment, with the aim of better preparing for potential future emergencies.
According to a Wednesday news release, the company is currently planning engagement sessions to get input for the review.
That will include a public in-person session scheduled for March 27 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the multiplex gym. It is set to focus on pre-evacuation preparedness awareness and the steps taken during and after the evacuation. Registration is not required to participate.
Members of the public will also be able to provide feedback online on the city’s virtual public engagement platform beginning the last week of March. The city said it plans to share further details about how to access the forum on its website and social media.
KPMG is also planning in-person and virtual meetings with local media and other “key stakeholders.”
