Inuvik RCMP charge Edmonton man in drug trafficking investigation

RCMP have charged a man from Edmonton in relation to a drug trafficking investigation in Inuvik.

In a Thursday press release, police said they searched a hotel in Inuvik on March 7 and recovered cocaine, pills suspected to be opioids and $15,000 in cash.

RCMP have charged Abubakar Bakal, 30, with possession of the proceeds of crime and two counts of possessing a controlled substance for allegedly possessing cocaine and opioids.

Bakal is set to appear on the charges in Territorial Court in Inuvik on April 23.

RCMP are asking anyone with information related to drug trafficking in Inuvik to contact the detachment at 867-777-1111 or Crime Stoppers.
