Folk on the Rocks confirms first acts for 2024 festival

Organizers of Yellowknife’s Folk on the Rocks music festival have released an initial list of performers confirmed for the 2024 edition.

Polaris winner Debby Friday and Jamaican-Canadian reggae musician Ammoye are among acts who’ll play this year’s Folk from July 19-21.

Calgary indie group Thomas Thomas, Brazil-born singer Bruno Capinan, “woodsy” Winnipeg singer-songwriter Andrina Turenne and techno artist Sean Beaver are also on the list.

Further artist announcements are expected on April 19 and May 17.

Mo Kenney, who played Folk in 2022, will return this summer after taking part in the festival’s artist-in-residence program this year.

NWT artists confirmed on Friday include the festival-opening Yellowknives Dene Drummers, the David Gon Band, Ryan McCord, Miranda Currie, Frog Poison, BrandonSonnet, Big Blue, and Amy and the Easy Hundo.

The Glam on the Rocks burlesque show will also return.

Early-bird tickets are on sale via the festival’s website.

Cabin Radio will broadcast full, live coverage of Folk’s main stage, beer garden stage and the Cabin Stage throughout the festival.
