Mackenzie Valley Winter Road begins closing down for season

The Mackenzie Valley Winter Road’s anchor leg, from Wrigley to the Délı̨nę junction, closed for the season on Thursday according to the NWT government.

Remaining portions of the winter road in the Sahtu are set to shut down at 10am on Tuesday, April 2, the Department of Infrastructure stated on Facebook.

Meanwhile, the Sambaa K’e winter road is forecast to close at 10am on April 2 and the ice crossing to Nahanni Butte is expected to close on or before Friday, April 5, the GNWT said.

The Fort Simpson ice crossing over the Liard and the ice crossing outside Wrigley are each expected to close for the season on or before Wednesday, April 10.
