You can now book lab appointments at Yellowknife’s hospital

The NWT’s health authority has new options for accessing lab services at Yellowknife’s hospital.

In a notice on Monday, the health authority said residents can now book ahead by calling 867-767-9300 extension 46673 on weekdays from 9am to 4pm.

The health authority said people can also visit the lab at Stanton Territorial Hospital to book same-day appointments, a move aimed at “eliminating the overflow in the waiting rooms and giving residents some flexibility in their day.”

You can still use the old method of visiting the hospital lab during opening hours, having your name added to the list and waiting.

Outpatient laboratory services remain closed at the downtown Yellowknife Primary Care Centre. Repairs are ongoing after flooding earlier this year.

The health authority said improving options at the hospital lab had been a theme in patient feedback. Wait times at the lab remain longer than usual, Monday’s advisory added.
