A winter storm expected to hit the Mackenzie Delta on Friday could now bring up to 20 cm of snow, forecasters said in an advisory.
Meanwhile, Inuvik is being told to brace itself for heavy rain throughout Friday afternoon and into the night.
“Rain will move into the area late Friday morning. The rain may transition to wet snow Friday night before tapering off Saturday morning,” Environment and Climate Change Canada stated.
Tsiigehtchic is expected to receive a mix of rain and snow.
In Aklavik and Fort McPherson, residents should expect freezing rain or wet snow beginning on Friday morning and becoming heavy snow as the day goes on.
“Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are expected before the snow tapers off Saturday morning,” ECCC stated in an updated advisory.
