The Canadian Armed Forces’ Snowbirds and SkyHawks demonstration teams took over the sky above Yellowknife for two hours on Saturday afternoon.
A demonstration by the SkyHawks parachute team was followed by a 15-minute Snowbirds performance that saw the aircraft rip across the city dozens of times.
Photographer Kevin Klingbeil captured the photos and video you see on this page.

While hundreds of people gathered in Somba K’e Park, the Snowbirds were easily visible across the entirety of Yellowknife.
Essentially, people just had to peer outside their door to take part.
The performances – the first of their kind in Yellowknife for almost a decade – took place to celebrate 100 years of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Pilots and parachutists took time to meet residents in Somba K’e Park afterward.
Earlier, Cabin Radio’s Claire McFarlane had been given the opportunity to jump with the SkyHawks a day before the main performance.
Watch that jump if you want to see how Yellowknife looks if you’re a member of the SkyHawks.
You can also watch the jump from Claire’s perspective as she prepares for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
