Five people face charges after police say they found crack cocaine, illegal cannabis and more than $76,000 in raids of two Inuvik apartments.

In a Wednesday news release, RCMP said the searches took place last weekend.

The cash is believed to be the proceeds of crime, police said, while 70 grams of “illicit cannabis” and 70 grams of suspected crack cocaine were seized.

RCMP named those charged as 38-year-old Jolene Andre of Inuvik, 43-year-old Willie Inglangasuk of Inuvik, 21-year-old Krystian Cogswell of British Columbia, 20-year-old Yousha Nayyar of Ontario, and a 17-year-old from Alberta who cannot be identified as they are a youth.

All are charged with trafficking-related offences.

“The Inuvik RCMP will continue to focus on those individuals that come to our community to profit from the illicit sale of these harmful substances,” Staff Sergeant Jesse Aubin, the Inuvik detachment commander, was quoted as saying.

“This is also a reminder to those that allow criminal activities to occur in your residence, you will be held accountable under the law.”
