Police say that in the month of July, they seized 169 bottles of illicit liquor and laid several charges in Fort McPherson, as a result of several investigations into bootlegging activity.
In a Thursday news release, the RCMP said the unlawful sale of alcohol continues to be an issue in Fort McPherson and other areas of the Northwest Territories.
“The RCMP is committed to addressing the issue of bootlegging and reducing the harm that these activities cause to our communities,” the press release reads. “The RCMP in Fort McPherson would like to thank those members of the public who have taken ownership of the community and reported suspected bootlegging.”

Charges were laid under the Liquor Act.
Fort McPherson is a restricted community, meaning there are strict limits on the quantity of alcohol any person may possess.
