Jean Marie River’s third 10-year reunion and annual general meeting, which had been set to take place from August 30 to September 2, will be postponed.

The four-day event was originally intended to take place mid-July, but had been rescheduled multiple times throughout the summer. Organizers announced on Tuesday that the event will be on hold until further notice.

The new dates will be determined at the next council meeting in early September, according to Jean Marie River Chief Melanie Menacho Norwegian.

Reunions in the Dehcho community have taken place for the past 30 years, with residents from across the region coming together for a weekend of fun.

According to the First Nation’s Facebook page, when the event eventually goes ahead, it will include sports and activities, traditional games, community meals, a talent show and drum dance.
