Residents can now vote to help decide which community-focused projects across the NWT and Alberta are most deserving of funding.
Field Law’s 2024 community fund program will award a total of $80,000 to charitable organizations, non-profits and individuals in the province and territory.
Public votes will determine how the money is distributed.
“By listening to the local community, we identify where the greatest need is for funding and direct our resources to where the funds will make the biggest impact,” Christine Pratt, chair of Field Law’s giving committee, said in a statement.
“There is no shortage of brilliant and deserving ideas and meaningful community initiatives.”
According to Field Law, this year’s program received “a record-breaking” 175 applications.
NWT-based projects seeking funding include:
- a wellness map and Indigenous wellness programs from Sweetgrass Healing Centre Inc;
- free online counselling for small communities from KidSport NWT;
