Watch: Rotary Park’s boardwalk like you never heard it before

The video for Carmen Braden’s Really Pretty.

Yellowknife composer and performer Carmen Braden’s latest single uses its music video to showcase a city nature spot in a new light.

With bulbs mounted in the rafters of her umbrella, Braden is seen in the video for Really Pretty strolling along and around the Rotary Park boardwalk in the dead of the night.

The track is the third from new album A Hard Light to be released. A Hard Light itself will be published on December 5.

A press release for Really Pretty described the single as a “songwriting masterclass in sparse beauty.”

“Life is memories – you live in the moment once, and then it all coalesces into what you know and feel and believe happened,” Braden was quoted as saying.

“Your life is built on memories upon memories upon memories, and they can be beautiful and mournful all at once. The song shares simple and gentle glimpses, almost like silhouettes, of how the world feels special and beautiful when you’re with someone you love … but also of the changes that come as those connections deepen, grow, and part.”

A Hard Light, produced by Mark Adam, will be Braden’s fourth studio album.

The video for Really Pretty was shot by Mike Lee and Kai Walden.
