Police in Yellowknife say a search for missing Lance Beaulieu has ended after a body was found outside the city on Monday evening.
RCMP said the body was located by a search party just after 6pm “several kilometres outside Yellowknife, near the Ingraham Trail.”
“This person has since been identified as Lance Beaulieu,” police stated on Tuesday morning.
Family members confirmed news of Lance’s passing via social media.
“His family has been notified and our thoughts are with them at this time. The RCMP would like to thank everyone involved in the search for their dedication,” police stated.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
“An investigation into the matter is continuing in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner,” RCMP stated.
Lance had first been reported missing on Saturday. Some relatives said he was last seen in the vicinity of the Dettah ice road, the CBC reported, and a search beginning on Great Slave Lake had been planned for Monday afternoon.
