A ground search is taking place in the vicinity of Inuvik following the disappearance of a 32-year-old reportedly not seen in nearly two weeks.

According to RCMP, Lance Briere was reported missing on Monday. Officers were told he had not been seen since February 8.

In an initial appeal for help finding Briere on Tuesday, RCMP described him as “an Indigenous male, approximately 5 ft 9 in tall and weighing approximately 160 lbs.”

RCMP said they think he is in possession of a black 900 Ace Ski-Doo Expedition LE and, while he has ties to the Yukon, police believe he is still in the NWT.

On Thursday, RCMP said a search had begun involving Inuvik’s ground search and rescue team.
