Applications have opened for the Territorial Agrifood Association’s NWT Summer Teen Chef Club for youth living in Yellowknife and Inuvik.
This marks the second year the association has run the virtual program, the goal of which is to promote nutrition education, meal planning, community shopping and cooking while introducing teens to food systems in the NWT.
Between June and September, participants will be equipped with vouchers for farmers’ markets and community stores to gather ingredients needed to prepare a meal at home.
Youth will work within a given culinary theme each month and will share their creations on the program’s social media channels.
The program offers recipe inspiration, cooking tips and support for the caregivers of people in the club.
The program is free and is open to those between the ages of 12 and 18.
Interested participants should complete the application form before May 18.
