The Tulip Lake wildfire, 15 km northeast of Fort Fitzgerald and 26 km east of Fort Smith, is now being held.
Being held means the fire is not expected to spread past containment lines.
The fire was just over 14,000 hectares as of a Tuesday afternoon update, and continues to be actioned by dozens of personnel and aircraft.
“Firefighters are continuing to monitor the fire on the west side and will use infrared scans to locate hot spots near the perimeter. They will use water to extinguish these areas and ensure a cold, black perimeter,” said NWT Fire in a news release.
“On the eastern flank of the fire, crews are mopping up areas of heat 30 meters interior of the fire’s edge.”
In the communities, high-volume sprinkler systems set up since June 6 are being taken down.
