Want your pet to be the star of a 2027 calendar? The NWT SPCA is promising that with its latest fundraiser.
“We are looking for striking images of all animals in support of the NWT SPCA,” the Yellowknife-based shelter declared as it launched a search for images to populate next year’s calendar.
How it works: you sign up and upload a photo of your pet (no humans allowed in the shot), then people vote on the ones they like the most.
Each vote costs $1, which is how the NWT SPCA benefits from the fundraiser.
“Contest photographs will ideally represent animals adopted from the NWT SPCA, but is not a requirement. We welcome all photos of beloved pets and encourage happy fur-ever home stories,” the shelter stated on its website.

The most-voted-for pet earns its human owner the choice of calendar month for 2027. The calendar is then filled out with the runners-up, while dozens of other pets will have the chance to appear in smaller images that fill out the final product.
You can also reserve a day to honour your pet’s adoption anniversary or birthday, which comes with a $15 donation.
Voting ends at 8pm on August 20. If you want your pet to take part, hurry – some photos have already amassed hundreds of votes, but it’s by no means too late.
