The all-new Cabin Radio app is here! Update your app and get a better way to browse the news, listen live, download podcasts and contact us.
Just look for Cabin Radio on the iPhone App Store or the Google Play Store. If you already have the app, head to your store and ask it to update.
What’s new
Listening live: The new live player is easier to sync with your smart speaker and other devices around your home or office.
Listen on the move: The Cabin app is now easier to hook up to your CarPlay or Android Audio system in your vehicle.
Easier news navigation: If you used our old app, we have two words for you: Back button. Now you can easily go back to our headlines after reading a story.
Quick access to podcasts: Play them through your phone, speaker or vehicle straight from the app.
Events at your fingertips: Get the Cabin events calendar – the most comprehensive in the NWT – inside the app.
Wake up to Mornings at the Cabin: Set Cabin Radio as your morning alarm via your phone. (MATC is on the air at 7am!)
Contact us: Send the studio a voice note via the Open Mic feature or quickly find our social channels, email and phone info.
Big events: Enter contests, learn more about big broadcasts like Folk on the Rocks and track your favourite Cabin events like Burger Week through the app.
Notifications: Coming soon – opt in for news notifications through the app, either for every story or just our editor’s pick of need-to-know NWT headlines, plus the weekly newsletter.
Feedback
If you have a technical issue with the app, let our editor know so we can share it with the development team.
We’re always happy to get your feedback on the design and features, too – and we’re already starting to plan for how the next app might look. (We promise not to go seven years between updates next time.)
How about FM?
So you’d like to listen on FM instead of through an app. We hear you, even if you can’t hear us.
We await the verdict from federal regulator the CRTC after our public hearing in February for an FM licence to serve Yellowknife.
That decision had been expected within four months – by mid-June. We understand the CRTC has a busy schedule and we hope to receive more information in the near future.
As soon as we hear anything, we’ll let everyone know. Thanks to all of our listeners and readers in Yellowknife, the NWT and beyond for your support through this six-year process.
