NWT RCMP say they have charged a man with murder after a 27-year-old went missing in the Beaufort Delta at the beginning of August.
Police said Jovan Sandhu was reported missing on August 9 after being last seen at the Tsiigehtchic ferry crossing on August 7.
Two days after RCMP issued a public appeal for information related to his disappearance, officers said the search had shifted to a recovery operation. RCMP said this week they have yet to recover his body.
In a Tuesday news release, police said 40-year-old Waylon Storr from Inuvik has been charged with murder and was arrested on October 16. Storr is scheduled to appear in court on October 20, RCMP stated.
“The RCMP would like to acknowledge and thank both [Civil Air Search and Rescue Association] and the community of Tsiigehtchic for their dedicated efforts in trying to locate Jovan Sandhu,” police stated.
