Do you have an idea that could improve your community? Consider pitching it to the Arctic Inspiration Prize.
Nominations for the annual awards have opened for the nearly $4 million in prizes that will be awarded in 2026.
Earlier this year, a Yellowknife-based project to help youth gain skills was awarded $500,000.
At the same ceremony, the largest $1-million prize went to a Yukon First Nations-led project that will establish a “culturally rooted birth and reproductive health centre” in Whitehorse.
Nominations for 2026 can be submitted for the $1-million top prize category, the AIP category worth up to $500,000 or the $100,000 youth category, where more than half of team members must be aged 30 or younger.
The deadline to submit initial proposals and letters of intent, which are optional but encouraged – is October 20, which allows for organizers to provide feedback.
Final nominations are then due by January 19, 2026 and the winners will be celebrated at a ceremony in May.
