Video map explainer: The two sides of wildfire FS014

Wildfire FS014 is burning in between Jean Marie River and Fort Simpson. When the wind changes, the threat can change with it.

At 4pm on Saturday, September 6, NWT Fire’s Mike Westwick walked us through what’s happening – and expected to happen – this weekend on each side of the fire.

Northwest winds on Saturday are expected to push the fire to the south and east over the peak burn period in the early evening, but winds from the south after that could push FS014 back toward Highway 1 and the Fort Simpson ferry landing.
