Air Tindi is beginning direct flights between Hay River and Edmonton on Tuesday, September 23.

The service will use Dash 8 aircraft, the NWT-based airline said in a brief announcement on social media.

The schedule to which those flights will run has not yet been made public. The price of a seat on the service is also not yet available.

In a short statement responding to Air Tindi’s announcement, the Town of Hay River said the route’s unveiling followed a March meeting between the airline and town councillors “to discuss opportunities for a return of direct flight services between Hay River and Edmonton.”

“The Town is excited to see Air Tindi’s announcement and congratulate them on expanding their services and fleet,” the town stated.

Northwestern Air Lease previously operated flights that connected Hay River and Edmonton. Northwestern ended all scheduled services at the start of the year, handing over its core Fort Smith routes to Air Tindi.
