Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Ulukhaktok, forecasting gusts of up to 90 km/h on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.
Sachs Harbour could see gusts of up to 80 km/h. Five to 10 millimetres of rain is possible in both communities over the next day or two, with snow expected in Sachs Harbour on Friday.

“Winds will gradually diminish Thursday afternoon and evening,” Environment Canada stated in its Ulukhaktok warning.
“Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Utility outages may occur.”
The NWT Power Corporation said it was “monitoring the situation to ensure we are prepared for these challenging weather conditions. If outages occur, crews will be dispatched as soon as it is possible to safely do so.”
