Environment Canada has issued a storm surge warning for the NWT’s Arctic coastal community of Tuktoyaktuk.
In an advisory issued at 7pm on Friday, the federal agency wrote: “Storm surge with breaking waves is expected early Saturday morning in Tuktoyuktuk.”
According to Environment Canada, water could reach up to 85 cm above normal highs and “minor to moderate flooding” is expected.
“Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas. Be prepared for higher-than-usual water levels accompanied with waves or stronger currents,” the advisory warned.
