The owners of the latest car reported stolen from a Yellowknife street say it was found not far away two days later.

Last week, Cabin Radio reported on a family whose Subaru Forester was taken from their driveway at 5am. The vehicle had been started to warm it up ahead of a trip to the airport when it was stolen.

Had the car not been recovered, RCMP figures suggest it would have been at least the 20th to permanently disappear from the city’s streets since the start of 2021.

Nearly 440 reports of stolen vehicles have been filed in Yellowknife over the same period, but most are later recovered.

“We found our car,” Rajiv Rawat said on Saturday afternoon.

According to Rawat, the Subara Forester had been acquired by North Shore Towing after being towed from the Lanky Court area on Wednesday.

Though the key is missing, Rawat said nothing otherwise appeared damaged.
