An NWT engineering and geoscience foundation has awarded 25 $2,000 grants to northern students, calling it the largest scholarship cohort to date.
The scholarships go toward full-time engineering and geoscience studies at universities across Canada.
The money comes from the Napeg Education Foundation.
A full list of recipients is available on the website of Napeg, the association for northern professional engineers and geoscientists.
“We expanded the number of scholarships this year to respond to the region’s increasing demand for engineers and geoscientists,” said Paul Guy, president of Napeg and the foundation.
Guy said the support would help ensure “students face less barriers to train in the fields essential to northern communities.”
