“Prepare for a reign of glitter, glamour and unforgettable performances!”

Thunder Normz, the inaugural artist in residence at The Underground, passed the torch to Jenny Sis for 2026 during a Holigay Spectacular at the downtown Yellowknife venue last month.

“It was such an honour,” Jenny Sis told Cabin Radio. “It’ll be a lot of fun. A lot of work, but a lot of fun.”

As drag artist in residence, Jenny Sis said she will host regular shows at The Underground – “from dazzling themed nights to showstopping numbers.”

“I’m hoping to bring out some new performers, some out-of-town performers and just provide a safe space for everybody to go once a month and have some fun,” she said of her plans.

Jenny Sis said anyone interested in trying out drag should get in touch through Instagram.

“I will help them and guide them along the way because there’s a lot that goes on,” she said.

Jenny Sis said Yellowknife’s drag scene is “small but it’s mighty.”

Jenny Sis said she started doing drag in the summer of 2024 and began performing more seriously last year.

“I just kind-of always wanted to,” she said of what made her want to start doing drag.

“I grew up near Toronto and going to shows like that, and always being interested and curious, and it was just never really my time and [I] feel like now it is.”

Jenny Sis described her performances as “high energy, fun, very campy, very entertaining, just an overall good time.” A press release states Jenny Sis is known for “her killer looks, sharp wit and performances that leave audiences gagging.”

Jenny Sis said Thunder Normz’ residency “left an unforgettable mark on the city’s entertainment scene” and while those are big shoes to fill, she is up for the challenge.

The first show under Jenny Sis’ reign is set to take place on January 27. Tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
