Free parking and transit in Yellowknife over Christmas

Last modified: December 20, 2019 at 9:06am

Free parking will be in effect across Yellowknife from December 23 to January 1, 2020.

The city won’t be enforcing parking metres during these 10 days, however, anyone parking downtown for extended periods is asked not to park in front of storefronts to allow access to these stores during the day.

Yellowknife’s public transit – including the city’s accessible transit service – will also be free during this period.

However, there will be no public transit running on December 25, 26, or January 1. The express route B will also be running mornings only from December 23 to January 3.

While parking is free, this doesn’t mean the City is relaxing other rules. Loading zones, fire lanes, and handicap stalls, as well as restrictions on Franklin Avenue, will still be enforced. Parking on Franklin is restricted from 3am to 9am and from 4:30pm to 6pm Monday through Friday.
