Ecology North and Yellowknife Ski Club are offering events on Sunday, which marks World Snow Day across the planet.

World Snow Day was created by global skiing governing body Fis in 2012 to “reinforce an appreciation of this precious natural resource.”

At Yellowknife Ski Club, you can enjoy free access to the club’s trails. Head to the club between 10am and 2pm on Sunday for free ski rentals, free lessons and a pancake breakfast.

Ecology North and Chief Fred Sangris are holding a free World Snow Day gathering at a wall tent on Frame Lake from 1-3pm.

“The afternoon begins with stories and reflections shared in a wall tent on Frame Lake, followed by a short walk along a nearby trail,” Ecology North said in a press release.

It’s an all-ages event. Dress for winter, Ecology North said, and plan to be outdoors. Meet in front of the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre at 1pm, when you’ll be escorted to the wall tent.
