The Western Canada Lottery Corporation has named the owner of a Lotto Extra ticket bought in Yellowknife that won $100,000 in December last year.
In a Wednesday news release, WCLC said the winner was Yellowknife resident Lahoucine Ait Ahmed.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he was quoted as saying. “I had a little scream. Nobody heard me, though.”
WCLC said Ait Ahmed is “still thinking about how he’ll spend his windfall but is excited to share it with his wife.”
“I’ll probably tuck most of it away in savings,” he was quoted as saying, “but I’ll definitely be paying some bills and maybe upgrading my vehicle.”
The ticket was bought at the uptown Reddi Mart and was a winner in the December 3 Extra draw.
The lottery corporation says it publicizes the names of major winners to demonstrate the integrity of its games and show that a wide range of people win.
