Hay River-based Carter Industries says it is moving into the care of a new group of owners with roots in La Crete, Alberta.

The company describes itself as having been a “part of the fabric” of the NWT town for more than half a century. It specializes in construction and logistics.

In a Saturday news release, Carter Industries said it was “entering a new chapter” as new owners come on board.

“Both teams are working together to make sure the transition is seamless and that the quality of work people rely on remains exactly the same,” said Dale Krahn, representing the new owners.

Melanie Carter described the new owners as a La Crete-based “combined group of current business owners and supervisors that currently work in the construction sector.”

Shawn Carter was quoted as saying the family-owned business “is being passed into good hands.”

The company said it will “continue offering its long-standing services while introducing new options that support the growing needs of the region.”

“Our goal is to build on the strong foundation already in place – not replace it,” incoming manager Simon Janzen was quoted as saying.
