The Operation, a new cover band in Yellowknife, is set to make its debut with a high-energy performance celebrating pop princesses at The Raven.
“Audiences are encouraged to come ready to dance, sing along and enjoy a lively night out,” states a press release from the band.
“Whether you’re a devoted pop fan or simply looking for an energetic evening downtown, The Operation promises a dynamic live music experience at ‘The Hottest Nightclub in Yellowknife.'”
The Operation is a spin-off project of The Co-op – the Yellowknife band not the grocery store. The new band features Mike Auty, Rob Elo, Morales Hamandishe and Taylor Sarcuse.
Special guests Shaelah and Thaesha Buckley, or the Buckley Sisters, will also be performing with the band at its first show.
The Operation said it “aims to deliver faithful, high-quality renditions that stay true to the original recordings.”
Band members said they hope to put on regular shows with each performance or “operation” highlighting a different theme of music. Other themed shows the band is planning centre on 2000s dance rock, electro pop, belt in the shower and big shiny tunes.
The Operation’s pop princesses show is set to take place at The Raven on Saturday, February 21 with doors open at 9pm and music starting at 10pm.
Tickets for the 19+ show are available online.
