The Community Government of  Behchokǫ̀ is asking residents to conserve water due to low water levels.

In a notice shared by the Tłı̨chǫ Government on Facebook Monday evening, the community government advised residents on the piped and trucked water system in Rae, Edzo and Frank Channel to conserve water.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the notice stated.

In a statement posted to her Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon, Behchokǫ̀ Chief Bertha Rabesca Zoe wrote that there is no water in the West Channel, meaning water must be trucked into Edzo.

She urged residents to conserve water and use it only for essentials.

“We all know there has been low water levels in Marion Lake and we are impacted greatly,” the chief wrote. “We need to relocate the water intake stations and we are continuing to lobby federal government for funding to replace aging water and solid waste pipe systems.”
