The NWT government is taking initial steps toward building a new RCMP detachment in the Sahtu community of Délı̨nę.
In a request for proposals issued late last week, the GNWT seeks consultants to carry out initial surveying and geotechnical work on a vacant lot where a detachment is set to be built.

The winning bidder will be asked to assess the location to “determine if there are environmental liabilities associated with the site and inform the foundation requirements of the new building.”
That preliminary work is expected to take until the end of the year. No timeline for the detachment’s eventual construction is identified in the documents.
Délı̨nę has an existing detachment. The new one is set to be built a short walk to the north, past the community’s school and arena.
