A 29-year-old man with ties to Yellowknife and Hay River is being sought by Edmonton police in connection with the shooting death of another man.

As first reported by NNSL, police believe Amin Yussuf is “armed and dangerous.” A Canada-wide arrest warrant is active for Yussuf, who is wanted for first-degree murder as well as attempted murder using a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Two other people were shot in the incident. They had injuries which police say were not life-threatening.

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Yussuf’s arrest. The reward is available until July 21, 2020 according to a Tuesday news release from Edmonton police.

That news release stated Yussuf had ties to Yellowknife and Hay River but did not elaborate on the exact nature of the connection.

Yussuf has a number of aliases, police said, including “Abdirizak Yussuf, Craig Yussuf, Mohemed Yussuf, Mohemed Mohamed, and Mohammed Farrah.” Police describe Yussuf as a 6 ft black male weighing around 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
