Highway 7 reopened to traffic on Tuesday morning, as did Highway 1 from the Liard River ferry crossing east, but road status remains subject to change with multiple fires burning nearby.
Highway 7 had been closed for days because of fires burning near to or across the road surface, while Highway 1 and the Liard River ferry were similarly closed for much of Monday.
Highway 1 west of Fort Simpson to Wrigley and the N’Dulee ferry midway along that segment of the highway remain closed as of 9:40am.
You can check the latest conditions via DriveNWT or Cabin Radio’s fire map (toggle road closures using the layer panel in the top right).
