Police in Yellowknife say they have charged a 26-year-old after an hours-long operation at an address on the city’s Williams Avenue on Monday.

RCMP named Elias Schiller as the man charged. He is accused of assault, possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, resisting a peace officer and failing to attend court.

In a news release, police described an operation that began after a Saturday tip that Schiller – the subject of multiple arrest warrants, RCMP said – was in an apartment on Range Lake Road.

While officers didn’t find him there, they did seize seven firearms, police stated. Two days later, police said, they traced Schiller to Williams Avenue, obtained a warrant to enter the property and arrested him.

Nobody was injured during the operation, police stated.
